I’m sure if you have kids, then you know they misbehave. Some kids misbehave more than others and grounding them by taking their tablets, video games, and toys sometimes just doesn’t work. Try out the Grounded Kid’s Chore Chart.

When I was a child and my parents would ground me, they would put me to work!! I don’t mean just work, I mean hard labor! I would then tell myself “I’ll never do that again.” Well I’d end up doing something else stupid and be back in my dads garage scrubbing the floors and trying to get rust off of motorcycle wheel well spokes with a small Brillo pad. Do you know how hard it is to get the rust off of anything with a Brillo pad?? It’s a pain in the ass!!!! Now that my kids are older, they’re definitely capable of doing chores when they’re grounded. My mom had a chore list for me growing up, but I’ve perfected it and have been using it for a while now and thought I’d share it.

So I’ve made a list of chores with a point system. Harder chores are worth more and simpler ones are worth less. Depending on the severity of what they are grounded for, I’ll tell them that they have to get, say 75pts to be off grounding. After they do each chore of their choosing they need to show me what they did for me to approve it. If they don’t do it correctly, they have to redo it until it’s done correctly. Then they will get the points for it. This point system works great. Try out the Grounded Kid’s Chore Chart and let me know what you think!!

Printing out the chart is a great idea. You can laminate it or put it in a picture frame. Use a dry erase marker to write down the points earned then so it can easily be erased.
